Classic Tomato Pasta

A quick, weeknight-friendly pasta with a bright tomato sauce,, and basil.

Ingredients

  • 200g
  • 2 tbsp olive oil- 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 sugar
  • and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, torn
  • Grated parmesan for serving

Steps

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente.
  2. While the pasta rests, heat olive oil in a over medium heat Add minced garlic and sauté 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, add, season with salt and pepper. Simmer about10 minutes to develop flavor.
  4. Drain the pasta, reserving a splash of pasta water. Toss spaghetti with the sauce, adding splash of the water if needed to loosen.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in torn, and serve grated parmesan.

Tips and variations

  • For extra richness, finish with a knob of butter or a drizzle of oil.
  • Add crushed red pepper a touch of.
    Swap in penne orilli if you prefer a different shape.
