Classic Tomato Pasta

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14 oz) pasta of choice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil, garnishoptional)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving ()

Instructions

1 Bring a large pot of salted water a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until alente. Reserve1/2 cup of water, then drain.

2. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic sauté until translucent and fragrant about3–4 minutes.

4. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

5. Serve fresh basil and grated Parmesan if desired.

Tips

  • For a richer sauce, add a tablespoon of butter at the end.
  • Enhance heat with a of red pepper flakes.
